Bundesliga: draw against RB Leipzig – Arminia Bielefeld relegated for the eighth time – Bundesliga – football

Bielefeld is lucky – and Ortega

“There is not so much room for daydreams now”, Marco Kostmann, actually goalkeeper coach at Arminia, but promoted to head coach at the end of the season, said before the kick-off at “Sky”. And that’s how it happened. Although Bielefeld started committed, but was offensive too harmless. Whenever things had to be done quickly and there were gaps in the Leipzig defense, there was a lack of precision. An old problem of the DSC: Only 27 goals in 34 games are not enough.

Leipzig, on the other hand, needed about a quarter of an hour to develop solutions against Bielefeld. At the first RB chance, only the post prevented Christopher Nkunku’s 21st goal of the season (13th), after 25 minutes Benjamin Henrichs aimed too high.

The pressure on the Bielefeld goal grew steadily, in the 34th minute Stefan Ortega parried a Nkunku low shot well. The significantly larger (individual) class of the people of Leipzig became more and more obvious. Ortega was once again the best in Bielefeld – he will leave the club after relegation.

Serra causes Bielefeld’s jubilation, Leipzig’s Orban for disillusionment

Bielefeld improved in the second half, but the offensive initially remained harmless. Until Serra scored in the closing stages after Peter Gulacsi had made a strong save against Robin Hack.

A phase followed in which Arminia took more risks and became more dangerous on the offensive. Bielefeld could possibly have played themselves into a frenzy again if Masaya Okugawa had scored the possible 2-0 just a few seconds later. But the Japanese put the ball past the far post.

Arminia fans sang about their players, the club and somehow themselves – and they didn’t stop when Leipzig’s Orban equalized in added time.
