Mike Tyson caused a scandal ahead of a domestic flight from San Francisco to Florida. The former boxer, who was long considered the best heavyweight in the world in the 80s and 90s, repeatedly punched a man on a plane. This is reported by the US celebrity portal “TMZ” with reference to a video linked there.

This shows Tyson from his seat beating a person in the seat behind him. One picture shows small traces of blood on the beaten man’s face.

First selfie, later fight

According to “TMZ”, Tyson initially took a selfie with another passenger and was very relaxed. But then the man got on his nerves because he kept talking to Tyson. Tyson is said to have asked him to calm down. In addition, the man is said to have been drunk.

US police, the airline and Tyson’s spokesman initially did not comment on the incident Thursday. According to several US media reports, Tyson exited the plane before it took off.

Tyson was considered boxing’s “bad boy” for decades and attracted attention through numerous scandals. Fights were often among them. Most recently, however, the now 55-year-old had become much quieter. “I had to change to survive,” he admitted in a 2018 interview with t-online (Read the full interview here.) in Vienna.
