Six schools in Drenthe and Groningen had to deal with a bomb threat this morning, writes RTV North. According to the Northern Netherlands police, these are false bomb threats. At least one of the schools, OBS De Achtbaan in Hoogezand, has evacuated the building.
In addition to De Achtbaan, two more bomb threats were received at schools in Hoogezand. There was also a bomb threat at a school in Eelde, one in Emmen and one in the city of Groningen. The police are not disclosing the names of the other schools.
According to the police, OBS De Achtbaan in Hoogezand received an anonymous phone call just after 9 a.m. saying that there was a bomb in the building. It soon turned out that it was a false bomb threat, a police spokesperson said. “The school in Hoogezand has been evacuated and the building has been searched. Nothing was found, the children are now back in class.”
The police are continuing to investigate who made these false reports. “All reports are of the same nature.”
