“It was very good and I was very close,” Niesten says afterwards. “I was completely exhausted in the last 800 meters. There is no shame in losing to these guys. They are international top players. I would have liked to win here, but I was beaten.”
Nienke Brinkman made her return to the half marathon after a year full of injuries. She achieved her best result in Egmond since her victory in 2023 with third place. “I’m very satisfied. I gave it my all, but I couldn’t overtake the two in front of me. Third place is very nice. I really enjoyed it.”
