Third most expensive new addition

Athletic Bilbao have secured the services of winger Álvaro Djaló for the coming season. The 24-year-old comes from SC Braga and has a contract until 2029. According to the Portuguese first division club, the transfer fee is 15 million euros, but can increase to up to 20.5 million euros through bonuses. Álvaro Djalo becomes the third most expensive signing in Athletic history.
The native of Madrilene grew up in the Basque province of Bizkaia before joining the SC Braga youth team at the age of 17. There he made the jump to the professionals in 2022, for whom he has contributed 19 goals and nine assists in 79 games to date. At Athletic Bilbao, Álvaro Djalo meets his cousin Adu Ares (22), who also plays on the wings.
