A total of 14 people had to answer today because they were absent or showed up too late in a electoral or counting agency. A month ago, 12 others were on trial for election reasons. One of the defendants is chef Alexandre Binard. He had to be present on June 9 at 7 am in a counting agency in Bruges, but was six minutes late due to busy traffic.
“I had just moved from Bruges to Ghent, but still had to sit in Bruges. I had left well in time, but was delayed on the railway tunnel,” says Binard. “Rules are rules, but I hope the judge shows understanding. This can happen to anyone.”
