And that is why there is the official information evening on Monday. Wind turbine builder Eneco and the company Lebbe Suikers will also provide all the explanations. The company is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2042.

“That is our goal. We will not get there with solar panels,” says Chris Van Hese of Lebbe Suikerspecialties in Oostkamp. “We need a wind turbine that provides sufficient power and we will use 1/3 of it ourselves.”

Lebbe Suikers has been making sugar glazes for cakes for years and exports all over the world. It is also the Flemish government that imposes on them to be more sustainable. Eneco would help them with this and is always looking for places for new turbines.

“It often happens that people are worried. We understand that,” says Tom De Clerck of energy company Eneco. “We try to deal with this as best as possible by being transparent and providing information. There will be information meetings to which we cordially invite people.”

According to Eneco, wind turbines are becoming increasingly powerful and causing less and less nuisance or inconvenience.
