Roy Hodgson is no longer the coach of the English football club Crystal Palace.
Like table 17. the Premier League announced on Monday (February 19, 2024) a few hours before the game at Everton FC that the 76-year-old has resigned from his position. He understands that due to recent circumstances it may be advisable for the club to plan ahead. He therefore made the decision to resign so that the club can move forward with its plans for a new manager, Hodgson explained in the club’s announcement.
Health-related problems
The former England coach has recently had health problems and had to be hospitalized during training last week. “The club can confirm that Roy has been discharged from hospital and is doing well,” Crystal Palace said on Monday.
With the resignation of Hodgson, who managed Crystal Palace from 2017 to 2021 and took over the team again in March 2023, the way could now be clear for Oliver Glasner to be signed.
Clear the way for Glasner?
According to English media reports, the Austrian, who won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, is the top candidate to succeed Hodgson. In the summer of 2023, the Bundesliga club separated from the 49-year-old coach early by mutual agreement. Since then, Glasner has been without a club.
