Coach Troy Lesesne had to leave the New York Red Bulls after just six months and the exit in the first round of the MLS playoffs – his successor apparently comes from Germany. As the “Picture“ reports, Sandro Schwarz is about to sign with RB Leipzig’s sister club.
The 45-year-old’s engagement in Harrison, New Jersey has not yet been confirmed, but the agreement has already been reached, according to the newspaper. For Schwarz, it would be his second stint abroad after two years at Dinamo Moscow between 2020 and 2022. In the Bundesliga he was responsible for Hertha BSC, where he had to leave in April, and for 1. FSV Mainz 05.
As in the round of 16 of the US Open Cup, the Red Bulls failed in the playoffs after penalties against FC Cincinnati. The club is reportedly planning to upgrade the squad for the 2024 season. The responsible sporting officer Jochen Schneider, former board member of Schalke 04, is therefore also trying to get two players from Leipzig: it is likely that Emil Forsberg (32) will move to New York, and goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi (33) should also be in focus.
