The fragment is viral gone: Winston Gerschtanowitz blowing away the unsuspecting home winner Maxime with a confetti cannon during the live broadcast of Miljoenenjacht. Fortunately, she immediately seemed to be doing relatively well, although she was a bit shocked. Last Sunday Winston appeared on TV without a confetti cannon.

Irritated eye

It now appears that Maxime is still suffering from her eye. “I spoke to him a lot, including with the team. Of course she had gotten that thing in her face from very close range. But luckily it wasn’t too bad,” says the presenter Radio 538.

However, it is not the case that Maxime is not bothered by anything at all, according to Winston. “She has a little bit of an irritated eye, but they said it should go away in a week.”

‘A bit of a shock’

So that remains to be seen, although Winston thinks it will turn out fine. “Luckily it turned out well, but boy, Mina, that was quite a shock.”

If everything turns out well, it will be a nice TV memory, says the presenter. “Of course it was a lot of laughter. Everyone who has seen that has turned it back several times, but at the moment when you are standing there, you are just completely shocked.”

‘Don’t do it again’

Winston appeared on television without a gun last Sunday. “I said: ‘Let’s just not do it anymore.’ It is of course great fun and enjoyable, but if people don’t see it coming… Usually other people do it. Then there is a moment when everyone is completely shocked when it goes off.”

He continues: “We are in discussions about the best time or the best amount at which we might put the confetti on again, but I promise you: I will certainly not do it myself anymore.”

Mental bafflement

It is not the first time that Winston has blundered with confetti. “I’ve done it twice now. One time was years ago. Then I also said: ‘I’ll do it myself’, and then I had that thing on the wrong way and I shot all that rubble to the ground on my own shoes. And now, in some fit of madness, I said: ‘I’ll do it myself.’”

He concludes: “Well, I won’t touch it anymore. Or we have to look for an official confetti thrower.”
