VfL Bochum has already said goodbye to three central defenders and a new one has now been signed: Yiğit Karademir is moving to Castroper Straße from second division promoted VfL Osnabrück on a free transfer. The 22-year-old received a contract until 2030. Overall, he is the fifth newcomer for 2026/27.
Karademir was trained at Schalke 04 in his youth alongside Osnabrück. He also had another stint on loan at SV Meppen. He is now leaving third division champions Osnabrück after 45 appearances. Director of Licensed Football Simon Zoller explained the move: “Yiğit is a very exciting, young central defender with great development potential. Despite his age, he already has some experience in the men’s area, appears extremely reflected and clear. You can immediately feel that he is ready to do everything he can to take the next steps in sport – we need exactly such players. We want to work with him on the path to improve every day in order to achieve our ambitious goals. This requires self-confidence and his passion, but above all his sporting skills Qualities: Yigit has top physicality and good duel strength, he works intensively against the ball. We are happy that he wants to show all of this with us and reach his full potential.”
Karademir is also looking forward to his new task: “The perspective that those responsible have shown me fits very well with the next step I wanted to take. VfL is a big, traditional club, I’m looking forward to seeing our fans – especially to the evening games here in the Ruhrstadion.”
