Some of the trams in the city were at a standstill. Tram lines 4, 14, 25 and 26 did run according to timetable. The metro network also ran according to the usual timetable. A NL alert was sent to residents just after 5 p.m.
‘A bit dangerous’
An Amsterdam resident told NH that there was a very special atmosphere in the city. Many people stood on the street because the shops were closed and trams could not run. The traffic lights were also off.
“It wasn’t creepy, but it was a bit dangerous at the intersections. Especially when you come to an intersection from Kinkerstraat.”
A shopkeeper in the center told AT5 that he immediately started asking around what was going on when it turned out that he no longer had power. Yet the shopkeeper, who comes from abroad, was not worried. “I know everything is well organized in this country. It will be resolved soon.”
