The accident took place on the Randweg in Uithoorn, near Op de Klucht. A car crashed into a moving tram. The collision caused the tram to derail and break the overhead wires. Emergency services are on the scene en masse. A local resident tells NH reporter Thomas Jak that a loud bang could be heard from the house.
Tram driver seriously injured
Both the driver of the car and the tram were injured. A passenger on the tram was also injured. The tram driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. It is currently unclear how the other injured people are doing. According to the local resident, the tram driver was stuck in the tram for a while because the power had not yet been removed from the overhead wires.
It is not yet known how the collision could have happened. The police traffic accident unit is present to investigate the accident.

According to the police spokesperson, it may take some time before the tram will run again. “The GVB must first ensure that the road is safe again, which always takes a while in the event of a derailment.” The road around it is also still closed to traffic.
