Rear loader and side loader

The Aagtendorp is unique. It is as Ans says: “a village within a city.” A small courtyard, where garbage trucks cannot reach. That is why residents used to always put their bins on surrounding roads, such as the Boeweg or the Romerkerkweg. But now it’s always a gamble. “There was even an argument recently because someone had put his bin on the Romerkerkweg, which a neighbor said was not allowed,” says Ans.

After much back and forth discussion, it is clear where the confusion comes from. The village falls under the so-called ‘rear loader’ – one of the two types of HVC garbage trucks. The ‘side loader’ follows a new schedule, but the rear loader schedule has not yet been adjusted and is therefore basically unchanged. Residents received a letter too early, which caused everything to go wrong.

HVC indicates that it will soon adjust the collection days and send letters again with clear information. Ans and Tamara breathe a sigh of relief and shake the men’s hands with satisfaction. “Now I’m going to listen to my own nonsense,” says Ans, as she pushes her walker towards home.
