Against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland, the DFB team urgently needs to win in order to create direct World Cup qualification. This should succeed with this squad.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann has two surprises in his squad for the World Cup qualification. On the one hand, Nathaniel Brown (Eintracht Frankfurt) is there for the first time, on the other hand, Ridle Baku (RB Leipzig) returns. Baku was there last time in November 2021, but played out again in Leipzig. As a right-back, the 27-year-old acts anyway in a position where there is a deficiency in the DFB squad.
Surprisingly, Niclas Füllkrug is not there. The striker of West Ham United is missing in the contingent, although there is no known injury. Last weekend he stood on the pitch for 90 minutes against Everton. The Dortmund Pascal Groß and the Stuttgart Maximilian Mittelstädt are also not included.
Attack: Nick Woltemade (Newcastle United), Maximilian Beier (Borussia Dortmund), Jonathan Burkardt (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Germany meets on October 10 in Sinsheim on Luxembourg, the following Monday (October 14) in Belfast on Northern Ireland. In Group A, Germany is currently only second in the group and has only three points after two games. Slovakia is the league leader with two wins. Only the group is qualified directly.
