Olympique Marseille has strongly reinforced the squad in the transfer sprint. After Benjamin Pavard (29) and Emerson (31) were already presented on Deadline Day, central defender Nayef Aguerd (29) and midfielder Matt O’Riley (24) followed the next day. Shortly before the Deadline Day, Arthur Vermeeren (20) and Hamed Traoré (25) had already been signed.
Aguerd returns three years after moving from Stade Rennes to West Ham to Ligue 1. The transfer for the Moroccan international, who was awarded to Real Sociedad last season, is said to amount to EUR 23 million. Also from the Premier League comes O’Riley, which Brighton is borrowed from Brighton for a fee of 2 million euros.
Marseille transfer expenditure grow to EUR 96.2 million, scratching the 100 million mark for the fourth year in a row. In the French Oberhaus, only Chelsea’s partner club RC Strasbourg Alsace (EUR 127.5 million) and series master Paris Saint-Germain (EUR 103 million) invested more money.
