“It is an almost fully automated factory and at the same time still a 100% family business. That is great,” says Minister Crevits. “I learned a lot about the quality of pasta, the flour and the production process. And I was also allowed to taste freshly made pasta.”
Automation is the keyword at Soubry, but according to CEO Michel Soubry that also brings challenges. “The supply of low-skilled people in the region is great, but with the complexity of the machines we increasingly need central and highly skilled people. Moreover, the labor market in northern France is gradually drying up for Flemish companies,” he explains. There is still work to be done for the Flemish government, says Soubry.
