Hass messages are not uncommon for the tennis stars. A German tennis ace now ruled it with clear words.
After her defeat at the WTA tournament in Warsaw, Tamara Korpatsch put a clear message online. The 30-year-old released a hate message on Instagram, which she had received after the end of the sixteenth final against Gao Xinyu (6: 7, 4: 6)-and reacted with sharp words.
A user had wished her death after the match. Apparently he had relied on a victory of the Germans. Corpatsch, currently in 155th place in the world rankings, then wrote in her story: “As you all say: I am shit, I can’t open, I play bad tennis. When I’m so bad, why do you bet on me?”
The player also turned directly to the sender of the news: “It is better not to hope for other people’s death, but to concentrate on her own shit life.”
Such attacks on tennis professionals are not an isolated case. According to a recent study by the player organization WTA, around 40 percent of the hate messages go back to “angry weather” – i.e. to people who let their anger run free due to lost sports betting.
Korpatsch also clearly spoke to this part of the audience: “It prefers to stop bet on any games and start working properly! I give a shit what you tell about me.”
