Whether he would really do it? He says not. Yet a 19-year-old man from Eindhoven is suspected of preparing attacks. A picture of someone came out from his phone who would have radically extremist ideas. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) demanded two years in prison at the court in The Hague on Monday, one year of which is conditional.
The Eindhovenaar, AK, came into the picture after an investigation had started in The Hague against a boy of fifteen from this city. The two young men were in contact with each other.
Buildings and people on the grain
Together they had a telegram via Message Service about faith and how from that faith the killing of unbelievers was justified. They spoke about possible targets for attacks, such as parliament, courts and churches. They also had people in mind. PVV leader Geert Wilders for example.
They would also have intended to kidnap or kill Edwin Wagensveld. Wagensveld is the foreman of Pegida, a right -wing extremist group, who regularly acts against Islam.
They also shared videos of how you can make a bomb or how you can best stab someone. “Seen already?” They responded to each other.
The Eindhoven resident says he never intended to actually do anything. That makes no difference in the criminal case, the OM thinks. Even though they only shared videos and information, the OM is already preparing for an attack. After all, without that information you cannot carry out the attack, the public prosecutor reasoned. “If you don’t gain knowledge about an explosive, how can you use it?”
K. also shared many videos on his public tap account, videos that have sometimes been viewed a thousand times. That is why he is also suspected of distributing incentive terrorist material.
The court will rule in two weeks. In March 2023, nine people from Eindhoven were acquitted of preparing a terrorist attack. They were stuck for eight months in the special terrorist department of the prison in Vught. K. is also detained here.
