Felix Magath’s judgment on club World Cup-“catastrophe”

Felix Magath is not a friend of the club World Cup. For him, the Prestige object of the FIFA president is only about one thing: money. This is not very demanding.
Felix Magath does not see any sporting value in the club World Cup in the USA, but only a “money tailoring”. He does not know what should be a world championship about the XXL tournament of the World Association FIFA. “Only that clubs from different continents play against each other. But the differences in performance are just too big to be fun to watch someone like me who is in football all his life,” said Magath at Sky.
His view as a coach on the event with 32 teams that runs until July 13th is even more critical. “Now I see a disaster on teams. So FC Bayern can be happy that the competition in the league is not that big at the moment, otherwise I would see black for a German championship next season,” said the former international and former Bayern coach.
After the long season, the teams such as the German champion from Munich and Borussia Dortmund would have to play for a weekly tournament in America. “When should the players recover?” Said Magath. There is no longer any preparation time. “The players, I think, will have difficulty getting the necessary fitness in the next season,” said Magath.
The Bavarians meet on Saturday (6:00 p.m. CEST/SAT.1 and DAZN) in the quarter-finals on Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain. The BVB then plays (10 p.m. CEST/SAT.1 and DAZN) against Real Madrid to move into the semi -finals.
At least financially, the tournament is worthwhile for the Bundesliga clubs, who have already recorded income of more than 50 million euros each. In total, FIFA releases around one billion US dollars (926 million euros) to the 32 participating clubs at the Reformed Club World Cup. In the best case, there could be up to 113 million euros for the tournament winner.
