Eva Lys narrowly missed the entry into the third round at the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon. The 23-year-old lost her second-round game against the Czech Linda Noskova, which was placed at position 30 on Wednesday evening after three exciting sets with 2: 6, 6: 2 and 3: 6.

The game started with a small lesson for the Hamburg native. Contrantician Noskova scored almost every blow from the start, shook Lys from left to law and was 4-0 in front after only 14 minutes. However, the 23-year-old was not impressed by this start, fought into the game, even if the first sentence against the favorite Czech was no longer to be won.

Lys from the second set in the game

At the latest from the second set, Lys was completely in the match. Even if she had to give up the first service game, she was the better player afterwards, minimized her own number of mistakes and had Noskova made significantly more mistakes herself. At some point the Czech looked completely agile and let the second set endure. Lys used her fourth set ball and was back in the game.

From the decisive third sentence, however, both players were noticeable. The passage started with a real break festival. Until the 2: 4 by Noskova, neither Lys nor Noskova were able to get their service. Afterwards, the Hamburg native finally got her first service in the decision set, but Noskova then stepped back on the accelerator pedal.

Matchball with a network roller

Lys could no longer oppose the Czech’s final sprint and lost this exciting game at the end – very bitter even with a net roller Noskovas in the match ball. For Lys, who still played an appealing tournament, the trip in Wimbledon ends in the second round. Despite leaving, Lys takes positive things from Wimbledon: “I am sad that I didn’t make it. But it was a good experience on lawn for me.” That will be her in the future “More and more” Help, she said.

The last German participant in the women’s competition is now Laura Siegemund, who had turned off Leylah Fernandez in the afternoon.
