On Tuesday (June 17) Arnold Schwarzenegger was a guest in the Talk show “The view” With the US broadcaster ABC. In the conversation, the former governor of California commented on the current protests in Los Angeles and the US immigration policy.
When asked about the demonstrators, Schwarzenegger said that cooperation at all political levels was crucial: “I think the most important thing when you are in a leadership position is that you are inclusive and work with everyone.”
On the subject of migration, Schwarzenegger spoke about his own story as an immigrant – he emigrated to the USA in 1968 – and about responsibility that he connects with it. “I am so proud and happy that I was taken up by the American people,” he said. “You could not do that in any other country in the world.”
Illegal immigrants are “not smart”
Arnold Schwarzenegger then emphasized that immigration should be legally. “The decisive factor is that we have to make things legal,” said the “Terminator” star. People who acted illegally in the United States are “not smart”. In this context, he compared immigrant: inside with guests: “When you come to America, you are a guest and you have to behave like a guest.”
He compares the USA with a house: “When I go home and a guest, I do everything I can. I keep everything clean, I do my bed, and I do everything that is right – instead of committing or misusing a crime or something.”
Whoopi Goldberg, one of the moderators, stepped in quickly and said that the vast majority of migrants: inside try to behave correctly. “We want all the right people, we don’t want the people who do bad things,” she said. In addition, she discussed that many of the migrants: inside, which are currently inevitably deported by the immigration authority, are not legally deported.
