According to the police and local authorities, the journey to this year’s Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel is to be largely trouble -free. The days when there were regularly massive backlogs on the access roads around the festival site seem to be over. Christine Huchzermeier, spokeswoman for the district of Rotenburg, emphasizes “Scheeßel is dense” reports are probably a thing of the past. The Rotenburg police also confirm that previous bottlenecks, such as between Sottrum and Scheeßel, were significantly reduced.
No large construction sites on the way
An important reason for this is a proven traffic concept that has been implemented and steadily optimized in cooperation between the authorities, municipalities and the police for nine years. Sheila Schönbeck from the State Authority for Road Construction and Traffic adds that there are no relevant construction sites in the area of the festival this year. Potentially disturbing work was completed at an early stage or adjusted accordingly, so that the journey to the Hurricane Festival should be largely smooth.
Despite these positive developments, on Thursday afternoon, especially around the West car park near Scheeßel, backlogs can occur. As police spokesman Marvin Teschke explains, experience has shown that this space is quickly utilized. As a result, visitors are redirected to alternative parking areas.
It is best to follow the signs
Teschke also advises against complying with navigation systems blindly and using sneaking paths. Since many roads are blocked, this could lead to landing in dead gases. Instead, the police recommend that they consistently adhere to the signposted hurricane note signs.
If you want to drive off your car again during the festival, you should also be careful. A parking space once abandoned may not be available again. A possible return could also ensure traffic chaos. From traffic perspective, it is advisable to only relax on Friday, but the main day of the journey is still Thursday.
