The deputy of Freedom Advances (LLA) Virginia Gallardo became a World Cup protagonist this weekend when visiting the boys of Blonde Soccer 5a space in Corrientes Capital that brings together children’s teams from different neighborhoods of the city through soccer. The legislator arrived at the scene disguised with a mask Lionel Messi and the shirt number 10 of the Argentine National Team, and distributed balls with the face of the Albiceleste captain among the children.

The scene was recorded on video and went viral on her social networks in a few hours, reaching the national media and generating thousands of interactions among the followers of the Corrientes legislator, who represents the libertarian bloc in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation since December 2023.

In the images, Gallardo is seen sharing the club facilities and playing a soccer game with the boys, who shouted at him on camera: “Messi, hold on Corrientes!”. The deputy was also captured dancing on the Costanera of the capital of Corrientes to “palpitate” the arrival of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada 2026. The gesture had a wide impact among its followers, who rescued the informality of the initiative and the direct link with the kids of the neighborhood, far from the usual protocol acts of party politics at the start of an electoral year with the October legislative elections on the horizon.

In his publication, Gallardo explained the spirit of the afternoon: “We wanted to do something simple, but that means a lot to us: accompany, share time, laugh and live a different afternoon. That’s why we arrived dressed as Messi, with some gifts.” And he closed with a reflection that amplified the impact of the video on networks: “Sometimes it’s not about grand gestures, but about being present. And that, in the end, is what is worth the most”. The phrase resonated in the comments and was shared on multiple platforms by his followers.
