It is well known that attacker Serhou Guirassy would like to leave BVB this summer. Most recently, the top Turkish club Fenerbahce flirted with an unusually aggressive public approach to signing the center forward, who is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2028. However, a much more attractive option could now open up for the 30-year-old.
As “Bild” reports, Europa League winner Aston Villa has entered the transfer poker around Serhou Guirassy. The traditional club from Birmingham can not only attract players with appearances in the Premier League, but thanks to the final triumph against SC Freiburg they can also compete in the Champions League in the new season.
The tabloid’s report goes on to say that the Villans are “closely monitoring” the situation of the center forward who wants to leave and are looking into making a commitment. Exactly how specific the island club’s interest is remains to be seen. Fenerbahce, who are also close to the top scorer, are now facing tough competition.
BVB probably doesn’t have a Guirassy offer
At the Istanbul prestigious club, the upcoming presidential election recently caused a lot of speculation about Guirassy. Initially, media reports said that presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim wanted to sign the BVB star if he won the election. There was even talk in Turkey of an oral agreement between Yildirim and the Guinea national player and BVB.
But nobody knows about it at the Westfalenstadion. “We don’t have an offer for Serhou. We don’t plan to give him up either. He has impressively proven his value for Borussia Dortmund in the last two seasons,” BVB boss Lars Ricken recently told the “WAZ”.
According to the regional newspaper, BVB would only be willing to talk to Guirassy if an offer exceeded the 40 million euro limit. Because: The exit clause anchored in the 30-year-old’s BVB contract does not apply to Fenerbahce and Aston Villa.
