The number 90 in the world misses the tournament in its own country due to an injury to an upper arm, a spokesperson for the Libéma Open confirms. Van de Zandschulp would take on Monday afternoon in the first round against the Italian Mattia Bellucci, the number 72 in the world.
Van de Zandschulp lost last month at Roland Garros in the first round of the American Emilio Nava. Even then the 29-year-old Dutchman complained about pain in an arm, after having previously had other physical defects.
Van de Zandschulp hoped to win a game in Rosmalen for the first time this year.
Hartono switched off in the first round
The Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto was too strong for the Dutch player in two sets, who was allowed to participate with a wildcard. The set positions were 7-6 (11) 7-5.

Hartono quickly took the lead in the first set by a break, but lost that margin in the ninth game. The tennis star born in Groningen received four set points in a long tiebreak, but was unable to use it. The Italian, the number 123 in the world, did not do that much later. In the second set, Cocciaretto used a 6-5 lead on Hartono’s service after about two hours her first competition point.
