BIRD
Type: Dramatic ✦✦✦
Director: Andrea Arnold. With Nykiya Adams, Barry Keoghan, Franz Rogowsky

The strongest image of the latest film by British Andrea Arnold – author of powerful portraits of young women, from Red Road to FISH TANK And American Honey – It is that of a man in the balance on the cornice of a building. A man-bird ready to take flight, perhaps a guardian angel for the young Bailey (The debutant Nykiya Adams, very good).

Bailey has a broken family and a father never raised (Barry Keoghan) who not only is about to remarry, but also claims that his daughter acts as a bridesmaid at the ceremony.

The meeting with Bird (Franz Rogowski), bizarre creature and mysterious powers allows the film to derail: from social realism to fantastic. Not everything works, but the director of the director for his characters (even when they are detestable), and for his fellow men, he is sincere.
