Expose more than one billion euros for gifts for Mother’s Day. This number comes from a population -representative survey of around 500 people that the HDE commissioned. Flowers in particular are bought and are still the most popular gift for Mother’s Day.

Almost 60 percent of consumers: Flowers want to give away flowers. Food (43.7 percent), perfumes and cosmetics (32.5 percent) and decorative items (25.6 percent) are also among the most popular product groups.

The HDE survey shows that almost 30 percent of consumers want to buy gifts for Mother’s Day. That is a little less than in the previous year, when almost a third planned the event.

Overall, the HDE predicts gift expenditure of 1.08 billion euros in retail for this year’s Mother’s Day. This corresponds to an average purchase amount of 19.26 euros per person. Expenditures for gastronomy and gift vouchers are not taken into account. Last year the average editions per person amounted to 18.20 euros, with a total of 1.02 billion euros.
