Two appearances by the “Move” tour of Yvonne Catterfeld have been deleted. It is the gigs in Leipzig (May 23) and Dresden (May 25).
On Thursday (April 10th), the singer explained the surprising step on Instagram and told her fans the blunt truth: too few tickets were simply sold.
“Unfortunately, the demand has so far been so low that the costs incurred cannot be covered and I have to pay on this tour,” said the 45-year-old. Catterfeld shares this fate with many musicians. But very few have spoken so openly about it.
The singer continues: “A tour with all those involved in front of and behind the stage brings high fixed costs, which have risen significantly recently for a variety of reasons. At the same time, we also want to offer you fair ticket prices.”
Yvonne Catterfeld is committed to fair ticket prices
In the case of the concerts in Leipzig and Dresden, Fair meant that the tickets started from 55 euros. This is easily above the average of 48 euros determined for Germany, but felt clearly below the market prices for established acts.
The fact is: since the end of Corona pandemic, ticket prices have increased by an average of 15 percent. The reasons for this include higher production costs, increased artist fees and the increasing importance of concerts as the main source of income for musicians.
Some of the high production costs also have to do with drastically increased expenses for personnel to technology, security and energy. After all, the cancellation does not apply to other concerts of the tour of Yvonne Catterfeld. In Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich, significantly more tickets were sold.
There is a lot of praise on the net for the painful honesty for you in the rejection question. The concert organizer Neuland Concert also says: “We admire you for your openness”.
However, Yvonne Catterfeld had to cancel an entire tour in 2007. At that time she spoke of health problems. How it came out, but some of the gigs were not even half fully booked. Industry experts attributed this to the image change, which was deliberately brought up by the musician.
