Karoline Knotten is not part of the Norwegian national team next season. Ex-biathlon star Marte Olsbu Røiseland does not understand her extinguishing.
The biathlon world knows almost none as well as Marte Olsbu Røiseland. The three -time Olympic champion and thirty world champion ended her career in 2023. But the Norwegian is still close to the action as an expert – and therefore horrified about the procedure and the national team outline of Karoline Knotten (you can read more about the booting here).
The second best Norwegian of the past season described her expulsion as a “shock”. The Norwegian national team manager via Arne Botnan said: “We need athletes who support the program 100 percent and trust that it is the plan that offers everyone the best possible chances of success.” In a conversation, knotting suggestions for training in the Olympic season are said to have given and have not agreed with the coaching team in all points.
Now Røiseland has also reported significantly and has found clear words in her column for the Norwegian public service broadcasting NRK. “When an athlete like Karoline Knotten does exactly-asking questions, showing responsibility and looking for the technical discussion-she should be met with respect,” said the experienced ex-biathlete.
In addition, she stated that she did not match the keeping of Botnan. “This type of attitude seems to be a break with the Norwegian biathlon tradition,” said Marte Olsbu Røiseland. The 2014 European champion added: “Are we really at a point where we are no longer allowed to think myself? Should everyone be forced into a model – without space for professional disagreements?” She emphasized: “In a service environment, there must be room for questions.”
And Røiseland goes even further in her column: “This is not only a brutal break – he also stands in a blatant contrast to the settings on which the association itself claims to start its work.” She also wrote that she earned her training in the past according to her own needs and only in this way her three Olympic gold medals in Beijing.
