President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke on the phone with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. During the conversation, the Ukrainian head noted that he “understands all the risks and is ready for any development of the scenario,” according to the website of the president’s office. Zelensky assured Michel of the following: Ukraine stands for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and will not respond to provocations. “Today, for us, the main enemy is panic,” the website of his office quoted the Ukrainian leader as saying.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the security situation and exchanged views on the latest developments. In addition, the President of Ukraine announced the need to introduce preventive sanctions against Russia. According to Zelensky, this “will deter the aggressive intentions of the Kremlin.”
Zelensky thanked Michel for the EU’s decision to provide a financial assistance package to Ukraine.
