Zelensky appealed to Erdogan infected with COVID after a visit to Kiev

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky wished speedy recovery to Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan, who fell ill with a coronavirus infection after a trip to Kiev.

“We regret to learn that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan have tested positive for COVID-19. We sincerely wish our friends, Mr. Erdogan and Mrs. Emine, a quick and easy recovery!” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, February 5, Erdogan announced that he and his wife had tested positive for coronavirus. The President clarified that he was diagnosed with omicron, noting that the disease was mild.

The President of Turkey visited Ukraine on February 3. His trip was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. In Kiev, he met with Zelensky. They discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine and signed agreements and memorandums of understanding, including in the defense sector.
