Anomalie, the 2020 Prix Goncourt book by Hervé Le Tellier (1957), is number 2 in the list of French bestsellers of all time, with more than a million copies sold. Number 1 is still L’Amant by Marguerite Duras, who won France’s most prestigious literary prize in 1986 (1.63 million). Anomalie, now translated into Dutch, is a case of the right book at the right time: a virtuoso novel with a touch of science fiction in which you can disappear for a while.
