This year, the Central Planning Bureau’s calculation is even more fun and exciting than usual. More parties are participating (kudos!), there are remarkable surprises and due to higher defense expenditure, political parties are forced to choose what they really consider important. Today Maarten and Marike discuss what struck them in the three hundred page document, in which the plans and promises of participating parties are compared. Does this common reality also reveal a common truth?
How do these parties arrive at the measurements? Who will solve the nitrogen crisis and how are parties doing in the areas of healthcare, housing, education and infrastructure? And do we already see possibilities for a new cabinet? Marike is optimistic: “The differences are big, but I see the contours of a compromise.”
