A car and a van collided head-on on Friday night on the Somerenseweg in Lierop. The road was littered with debris and tools thrown from the bus by the impact. A third car was also damaged in the accident.
The van hit a tree on the side after the collision. This caused the rear axle of the bus to break. It ended up on the verge on the other side of the road.
Police investigation
The occupants of the van and car were checked by ambulance personnel, but did not need to be taken to hospital. However, the driver of the car with which the van collided was taken by officers to the police station for further investigation.
The road was temporarily closed to allow the cars involved to be removed.
