World Cup 2022: Serbia nominated Veljkovic, Kostic, Jović & Co.

Werder professional there despite injury

Despite an Achilles tendon problem, Bremen’s Milos Veljkovic (27) has made it into Serbia’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar. The defender, who is not available for Werder in the duel on Saturday (from 3:30 p.m. in the TM live ticker) with RB Leipzig, is one of 26 players in national coach Dragan Stojkovic’s squad. While Veljkovic is the only professional active in Germany, there are a large number of players with a Bundesliga past in the selection.

First and foremost Filip Kostic (30), who left Eintracht Frankfurt for Juventus last summer and is a regular on the left flank. With Luka Jović (24), who joined AC Fiorentina this season, there is another former SBU professional in the squad. Marko Grujic (26; Porto), Nemanja Radonjić (26; FC Torino), Filip Djuricic (30; Sampdoria) and Filip Mladenovic (31; Legia) also had a past in the German upper house. The most valuable Serbian World Cup driver with a market value of 80 million euros is Kostic teammate Dušan Vlahović (22), who was devalued by 5 million euros in the Series A update on Friday.

At the World Cup, Serbia will first face top favorites Brazil (November 24) in Group G, before taking on Cameroon (November 28) and Switzerland (December 2). At the 2018 edition, which ended in the group stage, Serbia was drawn to Brazil and Switzerland.
