Second division relegated SSV Jahn Regensburg has signed Michael Wimmer as the new head coach.
The 44-year-old receives a two-year contract. Since February the Wimmer from Lower Bavarian Dingolfing was under contract with Motherwell FC. There was a transfer agreement with the first division club from Scotland.
“I am an emotional and ambitious person and I also want to see it from my players. The anticipation is great to work with the team, grow together and build something up here at SSV Jahn,” Wimmer was quoted in a club announcement.
In 2022 Wimmer acted seven games as an interim coach at VfB Stuttgart, previously he worked as an assistant coach at VfB and FC Augsburg. After the short chief position in the Bundesliga, he worked as a coach at Austria Vienna. Until 2018, the football teacher also worked for years in different function in the youth area of 1. FC Nürnberg.
