Why my daughters like visiting the doctor – and why their doctor advises against a corona vaccination

In the BZ, editors regularly write about experiences with their children. This time a report from the Ostblogger about his twin daughters and their curious penchant for visiting the doctor

“When are we finally going to the dentist again?” An adult would probably not ask such a question…

But for my twins, every visit to the doctor is an adventure. Now it has to be said that both are fortunately healthy and the appointments are mostly routine.

Nevertheless, such a large dentist’s chair in a sterile treatment room can inspire quite a bit of respect. The doctor, however, is extremely friendly and explains in child-friendly terms what he is doing in his mouth. And then there is usually a small toy. Finally, an hourglass, so that you really clean for three minutes in the morning and in the evening.

The routine hearing test at the ENT doctor last year also went extremely smoothly, despite the large headphones and the long period of sitting still.

My daughters always look forward to a visit to their pediatrician in Marzahn. After the 4th birthday we were there recently for the U8. Checking height and weight, building towers, naming pictures and things, doing some gymnastics, even the obligatory eye test – child’s play.

Next year at U9 there will be a booster vaccination against tetanus, diphtheria and polio. Hopefully that will go through without tears.

By the way, the pediatrician advised against a corona vaccination for our girls (should it be approved for 4-year-olds). The risk of a severe course of corona is significantly lower for the little ones, but the risk of possible side effects of the vaccination is greater, she said.
