WHO predicts infection in more than half of Europe in the coming weeks

Scientists predict massive infection of Europeans a new strain of coronavirus in the coming months. World Health Organization Europe head Hans Kluge said on Tuesday that over 50 percent of Europe’s population is infected with the omicron within six to eight weeks. The spread of COVID-19 is predicted based on a study by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

According to the WHO, omicron is distributed to 50 of 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia. He becomes dominant in Western Europe and has now come to the Balkans, writes RIA News

WHO found that the rate of growth of omicron infection is much higher than the rate of spread of the “delta”. This figure has already stabilized in many countries.

WHO will conduct research to find out the effectiveness of vaccines against the omicron strain. The organization expects this data in the coming week.
