White House urges Canada to end trucker protest | Abroad

Canadian truck drivers have been blocking important border crossings into the US for days, affecting supplies mainly to the auto industry. A third blockade was launched on Thursday in the central province of Manitoba. In addition, truckers and other demonstrators have been causing nuisance in the capital Ottawa for a week or two, where the police say they will take stronger action.

The White House asks Canada to deal with the protesters at a federal level and promises “full support”. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lashed out at the truckers several times in the past week, who in turn say they will not budge until all corona measures in the country are lifted.
