Western Union will refuse domestic transfers

Western Union stops money transfers within Russia from April 1. The American company cannot compete with the domestic Fast Payment System and card transfers of the largest Russian banks. But foreign transactions will still be performed.

Western Union does not disclose detailed information on its share in the Russian market. At the same time, in a letter to partner banks, to which RBC refers, the decision was justified by the low demand for internal transfers. The last of them can be issued until the end of March. If the recipient does not have time to receive the money, the sender will have to return them at the Russian Post offices.
