West Ham United lost five of the first six competitive games of the season. At the London club of international Niclas Füllkrug, coach Graham Potter is facing dismissal after the new home defeat on Saturday. The 50-year-old has had a point cut of 0.92 points per game since taking office at the beginning of the year-the historically worst record of all hammer trainers who were more than a game on the sidelines.
According to the newspaper “The Guardian”, Potter’s days in the east of London should be counted shortly. Accordingly, the club bosses are already looking for a possible successor. Potter himself presented himself to his future optimistic with a view of his future in West Ham. Asked whether he still feels backing fans and from the management level, the coach replied: “Yes, I have no reason not to believe that, but I also understand the environment and the results. I have no complaints about the support of the fans and all in the club.”
Six victories from 25 competitive games are in Potter’s record. “I think that I can tear around the rudder? Of course. I also understand that it is hard. We are in a difficult situation, there is no way around. The only thing you can do is to be honest. We want to do better than we are doing at the moment. And at the moment we are not doing it. (…) The results are not good, we have to put it and make sure that we are stronger next week.
According to the sheet, West Ham had had discussions with the Nuno Espírito Santo, which was released in Nottingham last week. The former Wolves coach Gary O’Neil was also said to be open to the task on the Thames. Another candidate is an old acquaintance: Slaven Bilic. The currently unified Croatian had already trained the club between 2015 and 2017 and is still one of the most successful instructors in the hammers after points (1.43). The 57-year-old also ran for West Ham in 1996/97 as a player.
