West Flanders will collaborate with Mega as an energy supplier for group purchase: “23% cheaper than market price” | Consumer

West Flanders will collaborate with Mega. The company that is not without a doubt will be the energy supplier for the group purchase of the province. In the coming weeks, the 87,000 families and 4,000 companies that have applied will be able to confirm whether they will accept the offer.

At the auction for the eleventh group purchase of the province of West Flanders on Wednesday 9 February, the energy supplier offered the cheapest price for 100 percent Belgian green electricity and gas. The aim of the province is to give its residents and companies the opportunity to save energy costs with a joint contract.

For those who want to purchase gas and electricity, the supply is 23 percent below the current average market price. For those who only want electricity, the price is 8 percent lower. For professional contracts with companies, Mega is 19 percent below the market supply for gas and electricity and 8 percent for green energy only. Mega and the province of West Flanders indicate that this type of contract is a variable energy contract, which means that the price can be revised every month.

More registrations

For the time being, the number of registrations is much higher than with the group purchase last year. In total, more than 91,000 families and companies registered. Last year, that figure stranded at 83,626, of which 77 percent eventually accepted the offer. On Friday 25 February, all participants will receive their personal proposal, then they can compare based on their current consumption how much they would save with the group purchase and thus decide whether or not to accept the offer.

You can still register until Monday 28 March. You can do that via the website of the province of West Flanders or via the free information line 0800 18 711.
