Week of Drenthe: acquittal in trunk murder and hunger strike in Meppel

The asylum seekers on the asylum boat in Meppel have gone on hunger strike. The 75 men want to be reunited with their families, eat different food and they want to be allowed to work. They have now ended the hunger strike. This and more in this week of Drenthe.

The week started with the lawsuit against handyman Josef B. in the Ruinerwold case. If it is up to the judiciary, Josef B. will go to prison for four years. The Public Prosecution Service suspects the Austrian of involvement in abuse and deprivation of liberty of the children of the farm family from Ruinerwold. Some of those children told their stories during the trial. The court will rule on the case on June 14.

And even more happened in court this week. The court acquits Hans O. from Emmen in the trunk murder case. According to the judge, there are indications that O. is involved in the death of Ralf Meinema from Klazienaveen, but conclusive evidence is lacking.
