Wages in the shoe industry rise by two percent

In the second round of collective bargaining, a collective bargaining agreement was reached on the evening of January 13 in Offenbach between the mining, chemical, and energy industrial union and the Federal Association of the Shoe and Leather Goods Industry, collective bargaining unit for shoes.

Accordingly, from June 1, 2022, collective wages in the shoe industry are to be increased by two percent. The term of this agreement is valid until July 31, 2023. The remuneration for trainees will be set nationwide from June 1, 2022 as follows: EUR 900 will be paid in the first year of training, EUR 920 in the second year of training and EUR 1,010 in the third and final year of training.

HDS/L Managing Director Manfred Junker: “We have achieved an appropriate result that corresponds to the general economic situation. Not least against the background of the uncertain pandemic development and the consequences for the entire industry, it is our most important concern to accompany companies in the shoe industry into a successful future”.

This also applies to the support of specialists in Corona times, so the new collective agreement also provides for special Corona bonuses for employees, trainees and part-time employees.
