Volendam – Aalsmeer resisted by European Championship handball

The handball match in the BENE-league between Volendam and Aalsmeer that was scheduled for next Saturday is cancelled. Both clubs have decided to reschedule the match because the European Championship-goers will return on Thursday or Friday.

Samir Benghanem and keeper René de Knegt are active at the European Championship on behalf of Aalsmeer. Florent Bourget and keeper Dennis Schellekens play as a club for Volendam. “Apart from the fact that some have corona, you should not want to play again on Saturday. Those men have played so many matches in such a short time,” says Aalsmeer chairman Mike van der Laarse.

He also does not think that the match should be played without the European Championship-goers. “Then you will not get a fair competition. They are our best players,” said Van der Laarse. It is not yet known when the North Holland derby will be overtaken.
