Vlaams Belang expels council member Filip Dinneweth in Wielsbeke

“For some time now there have been internal conflicts in the local branch of Vlaams Belang,” the party says. “Further cooperation proved impossible.”

The party will soon announce a new departmental board and wants to go to the electorate with a new team. The party now had one seat in the city council, with Filip Dinneweth.

The relationship with the party board and Dinneweth had been bumpy for a while: in 2011 he left the party out of dissatisfaction because he felt abandoned. He then sat for a while as an independent councilor, as will happen now until the elections.

In the middle of a political frenzy

Dinneweth held the ‘key’ at the time when three parties had seats in the city council in Wielsbeke: CD&V/N-VA and WDV. Vlaams Belang had one seat with Dinneweth, the other two parties had nine each. Only after the transfer of someone from WDV to CD&V/N-VA was there a board.
