Wednesday will commemorate the twentieth wedding anniversary of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in various ways. Marco Striekwold and Youri Jagt from Venlo decided, calculated on 2-2-2022, to tie the knot.
This made a wish come true for Marco in particular.
Easy to remember
“I grew up with the royal family. I saw the royal family at my grandmother’s and at home. And still do now. Hence the choice for this day,” says Marco. His partner Youri agreed. “I let him choose for the day. I like it because it’s easy to remember.”

In the town hall, partly due to corona, there were not as many people present as at the wedding of the royal couple. But there is a balcony. So the famous balcony scene was also done by Marco and Youri.

Furthermore, a stamp sheetlet with the DNA code of the royal couple also appeared on this day. Incidentally, this can count on little enthusiasm from the stamp association Philatelisten Zuid-Limburg. These special stamps cannot be pasted on postal items. Bert Janssen of Philatelisten Zuid Limburg calls it a money grab. “It’s for the royalist collector who would like to have it complete.”
