Superstar Johannes Thingnes Bö has rewarded himself on his farewell tour with the 80th World Cup victory and the small crystal ball for the sprint classification.
The 31-year-old won in his third last biathlon race of the career at the World Cup final on the Holmenkollen at home thanks to flawless shooting and confidently defended his upholstery in discipline rating.
Justus Strelow came to eighth as the best of the again disappointing German starters without a penalty round, 38 seconds were missing on the stair after a fall on the final round.
“It threw me forward, I was on my stomach. It is annoying, but in the end a good result,” said the Schmiedeberger in the ARD: “We had really strong material.”
The Tarjei Bö, who also resigned, had to cancel his start in sprint and persecution due to fever late Thursday evening, but he hopes for a farewell race in the mass start.
After his illness -related departure, Johannes Thingnes recovered from the Pokljuka in time for the 10 kilometers. In the fight for the overall World Cup, his faultless main competitor Sturla Holm Lächreid also delivered second place, so that the gap of Bö continues a whopping 89 points.
DSV ski hunters too weak when shooting
Third in the Norwegian five-axis victory, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (1 penalty round/+36.7 seconds). The eight ski hunters of the German Ski Association (DSV) met a total of 17 penalty rounds. Roman Rees (1/+1: 32.4), Philipp Nawrath (2/+1: 36.5) and Philipp Horn (2/+1: 41.1) still made it under the top 20.
The last chances of a conciliatory conclusion are available at the weekend. The hunting race will take place on Saturday (1.45 p.m.), Johannes Thingnes Bö has a good chance of another small crystal ball with a 15 -counters. On Sunday (3:40 p.m./each ARD and Eurosport), the last career racing for the Bö-Brüder with the mass start over 15 kilometers.
After a few weeks of break, the DSV team will start preparing for the Olympic season, which will begin at the end of November.
