Last summer, Club Brugge secured defensive midfielder Aleksandar Stanković from Inter Milan and gave him a contract until 2029. Now the Belgians have to let the 20-year-old go again because the Nerazzurri are using a buyback clause. Stanković will receive a working paper in Milan until 2031, and his return will reportedly cost the Serie A champions 23 million euros.

In July 2024, the transfer fee for the son of long-time Inter professional Dejan Stanković amounted to 9.5 million euros, making him the third most expensive addition in Brugge’s club history. The eight-time Serbian international was also linked to Hamburger SV, VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart at the time. Stanković was trained at Inter, but did not make any professional appearances and played on loan in Switzerland at FC Luzern in 2024/25.
His transfer to Club Bruges paid off for everyone involved: Stanković increased his market value from 11 million euros to 32 million euros. Inter is getting back its homegrown talent, which matured elsewhere and was named player of the month in Belgium several times. Brugge received a huge transfer bonus for a player who only stayed for one season and proved to be an absolute support with nine goals and five assists in 55 games. Only many times in the club’s history has Blauw-Zwart received an even higher fee.
